The Vilaine in flood

Following last week’s floods, I’d like to say THANK YOU to the engineers for the hydraulic structures along the Vilaine.

Rennes is partly protected from the flooding of the Vilaine by the Haute-Vilaine dam and the Cantache dam, as well as by the banks of the river.

Like many people from Rennes, I was able to see for myself what we owe to the engineers who design these protections and manage them on a daily basis.

I don’t know to what extent this has played a role, but the fact is that the river Ille was much further out of its banks. And at the confluence of the Ille and the Vilaine, the difference in flow was striking.

So THANK YOU.

THANK YOU to all those who are working to reconcile the presence of humans and the preservation of the environment through developments that protect our homes and are as respectful as possible of nature.

See you soon
